Our Personal Care Assistants (PCA) provide personal care services following a high-quality, person-centered model. Their focus is to assist with all the activities of daily living in the client’s life. All services are tailored to the client’s needs and follow the established care plan. In addition to providing homemaker and companion services, PCAs are trained to assist with personal hygiene, toileting, and incontinence care. Clients prone to falls benefit from hand-over-hand transfers and mobility assistance.
We understand that PCAs sometimes spend more time with the clients than the family members. Family members may not be readily available or perhaps live far away. For this reason, our PCAs are essential and are a point of contact that can tell the family how the client is progressing.
If there is a cognitive challenge, our PCAs provide much-needed supervision and offer daily reminders focusing on empathy and preserving the client’s dignity.
Veterans Program
Our Veterans have sacrificed so much, and at Ebenezer Home Care, we do not take them for granted! Their bravery has brought us freedom, and for this reason, we offer Veteran specific programs for those who have served our country. We work with the V.A and the Aide and Attendance program to bring care to homebound veterans. We will make the referral to the V.A. if needed. They took care of us, and we will take care of them!
HOMEMAKERS AND COMPANIONS
Our homemakers and companions promote independence and assist with personal care and activities of daily living. The homemaker's activities include light housekeeping to enhance the environment, grocery shopping, meal preparation, etc. The goal of companion care is primarily emotional support, socialization, and entertainment. The companion accompanies the clients to Dr. appointments and anywhere they would rather be. In many instances, our companions motivate clients when they are going through depressive episodes and are adept at providing mental stimulation through outings, walks around the community, and visits to the senior center. Our companions are role models! Homemaker and Companion care is an essential benefit for older adults at risk of institutionalization and isolation. If aging in place is the goal, considering homemaker and companion services can help them remain living longer, safer, and independently!
